Whether it be fast paced and fierce Road Rage, or a slow and romantic tune for his lady…

Homegrown Leicester Grime artist Kamakaze, has burst onto the UK music scene with a collection of insanely good tracks and EP’s over the last few years. As well as quite possibly being one of the UKs most advanced grime MC’s on the scene right now, Kam is also known as Dagenham and Redbridge midfielder Matt Robinson. None the less, his career in football doesn’t stop him from producing track after track, in which the intricate lyrics tell a story so effortlessly. Nothing short of excellence from the 24 year old that took the UK scene by storm.

On a personal note, one of the first bits of material i heard from Kamakaze was his Road Rage on JDZ media about two years ago now. From seeing this one piece, i was taken back by the amount of energy he put into it, and of course… the lyrics were sick.

Following this, Leicester’s very own came back with an EP titled ‘Royal Blud’ featuring UK artist Massappeals. The 2016 EP was a refreshing mix up of Grime tracks in which Kammy really left his stamp on the scene. This was an EP that was very well done by both artists it just made me even more eager to hear more from Kamakaze. Not only this, but i was introduced to the work of Massappeals, he’s one to watch also.

It wasn’t long after that Kam made an appearance on Fire In The Booth with 1 Xtra’s very own Charlie Sloth in Feb 2017. He went in hard three times in the booth, the first and second both being raw and intimidating with Sloth calling Kam an Animal. On the third go, he switched it up a bit with something a bit slower. Something that i feel took a bit of an Outkast Stankonia vibe. This just demonstrated how versatile Kamakaze is as an artist, not only can he spit on any beat, he also has a pretty pleasant vocal too.

Later in the year, Kam again changed it up a bit with EP titled ‘Wavey Shirt Wednesday’. This EP seemed slightly different to what we had already seen from him; less of a grime vibe and something a bit more laid back and chilled out. It was a great little contrast in which he worked with Tracksuit Monk and Ted Loco. The greatly titled bunch of tracks seemed to flow so effortlessly and not a single one of the tracks felt like a filler. A very honest and reflective bit of work. This was the point in which Kamakaze became my personal favourite. He just didn’t stop getting better and better and i absolutely fell in love with the track ‘Need U Two Know’; a homage to this long term girlfriend. He explains on the track how she has always stuck by him no matter what. I really warmed to this track as it genuinely feels as if he is thanking her for all she has done… a real track for the ladies and also a bit of motivation to the boys on how important it is to appreciate your significant other.

Back to a more Grime orientated vibe in 2018, Kammy came back with yet another EP, this time a reminiscently titled ‘Facts Not Fiction’. The title was named after a Zdot beat than Kam and his pals used to spray over when in secondary school. Even better, the work on the EP was produced by Zdot himself, along with Krunchie. This all seemed a bit back to the norm. The EP seemed to flow so well with yet more tunes after tune… nothing but passion comes across in Kamakaze’s work. It’s almost infectious.

Kam has just completed the final leg of his Weatherman UK Tour. Tickets sold well and his Merch sold out.

This is only the beginning for this hard spitting grime MC. I expect nothing short of Kammy dominating the scene in time to come. Keep your eyes peeled for him.

Hold tight Kam x
